Every now and then you need to mix things up a bit. If you know me, you know I love all types of music and this past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend an outdoor concert in Charleston, SC. Lady Antebellum was performing in an outdoor concert, Halloween 2009 in Charleston, SC at the Lakefront Stage. The concert began at 8:00 pm, but people started filling the stands at 2:00. It was a beautiful sunny day, 87 degrees at 5:00 pm when we got there so imaginee setting in the stands that long in the heat. It was well worth it! Their sound is wonderful and this is one of the best concerts I've been to in many, many years.
What does any of this have to do with crochet? I have been able to combine my love of music with the love I have for crochet. I met and talked with these talented young country singers and presented them with a few things I had made for them. Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood both received crochet scarves, but Hillary Scott received a special gift from me. For several years I have enjoyed working with suede and crochet in creating jackets, bags and vests. I created this full length suede and crochet vest just for her. I think she really loved it. She couldn't believe I made it, even Dave and Charles were amazed. The photo's are a little blurred, everyone was moving so quickly it was difficult to get many clear shots, but I think you can see the look when I showed it to her.
I hope to see it on her at a future concert and the next set of scarves for the guys will be knit.
