Heartfelt Scarves for One Warm Coat
Red Heart is proud to be sponsoring One Warm Coat this year. As the only national nonprofit working to provide clean, gently used warm coats to those in need, we think One Warm Coat is an ideal partner for our knit and crochet community. You are wonderful at helping people in need! And there is no more perfect “partner” to a warm coat than a cozy, colorful handmade scarf. Coat drives are organized and held in communities across the country. We invite you to join Red Heart in donating scarves and gently-used coats to a One Warm Coat drive near you.
We are also proud to announce our unique Heartfelt Scarves for One Warm Coat patterns. We are offering free, specially-designed knit and crochet scarf patterns using an exclusive shade of Heartfelt Super Saver yarn that is perfect to create scarves for women, men and children in need. To purchase Heartfelt, please visit www.shopredheart.com. (Please note that you can use any yarn and pattern to create your scarf.) Why not make one (or more) and donate it at a One Warm Coat drive in your community?
One Warm Coat started out in 1992 as a Thanksgiving Weekend coat drive
in San Francisco.
Since then, close to 3 million coats have been donated in thousands of local communities across North America. Each coat drive has the same intent -- to collect coats that will be GIVEN to those in need.
One Warm Coat is a simple, easy way to help those in need within local communities.
One Warm Coat provides tools and resources to help volunteers in the collection of clean, reusable coats or scarves for donation to individuals.
One Warm Coat strives to develop and nurture volunteerism in all of us.
“This year we are thrilled to be working with Red Heart to expand our items for donation to helping keep people warm.” said Sherri Wood, President of One Warm Coat. “Our dream is that One Warm Coat becomes a part of the American lifestyle. When a coat or scarf is no longer needed, people will think of One Warm Coat. They will make their donation knowing that children, women and men in need will receive a gift of warmth.”
