How's Knitting or Crochet Helping You This Week?
Over the past month, the temperatures have been pushing upward of 80’s – 90’s in the south. Only a very few cool days have come and gone, little time to sit outside and stitch. It’s finally another cooler day today and beautiful weather to work outside…stitching that is. After staring at the computer screen for several days, I’m giving myself a break from the screen for next few hours and I’m going to enjoy this beautiful afternoon working on a fall jacket design (for myself) and I’m doing it outside. I have a swing at the back of my garden, grape vines and trees offer shade and today it’s calling me to come over, sit down and stitch for a while. Only natures music and a mild breeze. And the grape vines are full of grapes, so I've picked myself a healthy snack to eat while stitching.
Ahhhhhhhhhh the making of a great day!

Crocheting helps curb my temper
I'm a hot-head. A natural-born hot-head (Hey, I'm a Leo, for crying out loud). So crochet helps me calm down whenever I feel like shooting bullets of expletives at somebody if they get on my bad side. Or if I feel the need to punch somebody in the face, I'd rather pick up a hook and yarn instead and crochet away all the BS that makes me tick.
My husband of 38 years passed
My husband of 38 years passed away in September and as if that wasn't enough, the night before I fell and broke my leg while I was staying overnight with him in ICU. So my life has been kind of strange for the past few months. I couldn't put ANY weight on my leg for 3 months - just keep it elavated. Well, I had to find something to keep my mind from going crazy, and also to try to get used to being alone. So I started to crochet! My Grandma taught me when I was a little girl and I just had to brush off the cobwebs in my brain a little. I now have an afghan for my Mom for Christmas, six pair of adorable slippers for my sisters & nieces, and some great bookmarks for the men in the family! I obviously couldn't get out to the mall but I had so much fun making these items and thinking about each person as I did it! And now my leg can bear a little weight so I've made some progress there, too. Thank you for letting me share...
Crocheting is keeping me from reaching insanity...
This week has been stressful. I had a day in court for the car accident I had in June, which didn't go so well. Then I haven't worked since 2008, and can't find a job, which has left me bitter and miserable (the bf can't take it anymore with me crying all the time). Then I get a job interview yesterday, but it has left me worrying about whether I can get something or if they're going to just boot me to the side without giving me anything to work with.
But, I have my crocheting to do, so I guess that my insane week will somehow do me some good.
More than 6 decades ago my
More than 6 decades ago my suite mate in college handed me a pair of needles and two hanks of Red Heart Yarn in the school colors and showed me how to knit a simple scarf. She recognized that I was under so much stress and to avoid my having a nervous breakdown, she got me to knitting. I have been knitting ever since along with crocheting with RH yarn. I've made gifts for my children, for shutins, for people who have been so pleasant to me for years and years, presents for those who are depressed long term. So I made them items to cheer them up. I made a shrug in my favorite GEMSTONES yarn - I must have made so many things in Gemstone. Hopefully you will never discard this color blend. Its deep vibrant colors of dark blues, purples, purple to pinks is an all time favorite. It helps so much to keep the mind concentrating on good things rather than the stressful life I live.
happy birthday!!!!
Knitting is my passion and has been for many years. At this time of year it is mittens, hats and scarves for those less fortunate. Red Heart has great patterns, great yarn and it is easy to care for. The colors are pretty for adults and children.
Crocheting/Knitting is my stress relief
My life is temporarily extra stressful, not all of it good. Among other things we are waiting word on when my son will be returning from Afghanistan. (This is a happy stress!) To manage my nervous energy I knit slippers and crochet afghans and anything else I can find to make. You should see the pile I've completed in just the last week!!! (Guess what everyone's getting for Christmas this year!) I am so thankful for Red Heart yarns which are affordable, perfect for projects I like to do and come in so many great colors! Please keep them coming. Once this son is home my second son deploys a month later to the same place. I have a feeling I will be needing LOTS more yarn (Does anybody need slippers?!)
knitting has kept me busy this week
I HAVE HAD A BAD WEEK DUE TO ILLNESS, BUT I DECIDED TO POUR MYSELF INTO YET ANOTHER PROJECT. I AM DOING A STRAYBERRY THROW AS A X-MAS GIFT. THE BEST PART IS MY 2 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER LOVE TO SIT ON MY LAP & HOLD MY HANDS WHILE I KNIT. I SURE HOPE SHE PICKS UP THIS KRAFT. SO I AM MAKING THROWS FOR X-MAS USING RED HEART TLC ESSENTIALS. VERY SOFT YARN AND WORKS UP FAST.
THANKS RED HEART & HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
