Red Heart Knit Along

Red Heart Knit Along

Over the past month we have asked you what you would like to make for our Summer Knit Along. Based on your comments, we selected 3 different projects for you to vote on.

  1. Cable Vision Scarf, SN0107
  2. Infinity Trinity Cowl & Wristers, SN0130
  3. Simple Spring Swing Cardigan, WR1970

Your votes have been counted and the Simple Spring Swing Cardigan has been selected. This is a great project for Spring/Summer, as well as, for someone just learning to knit. If you know how to knit and purl, you will be able to make this sweater. The project calls for Eco-Ways, but you can also use Super Saver; they are spun to the same specifications. Select any color and for those more advanced stitchers, get creative and use a couple of colors. Whatever you select, we are looking forward to your joining our group and hearing about your progress.

There will be weekly posts on our blog and Facebook page along with video instructions to help you learn. We invite you to share your progress and help each other with any tips along the way.

The Knit Along project will begin on June 8, 2011.

Summer Knit Along

Just saw the post. This is the project I voted for, and since the knit along just started a couple of days ago, I am definitely planning to get the yarn today and participate. The other WIPs will just have to wait a bit longer. . .

Looking forward to this project!

Spring Sring Cardigan - Knit Along

I've never joined a knit along group before. I'm excited! I'm going out today to pick out my yarn.
Will we be able to post pictures so that everyone can see how others in the group are doing? I don't use Facebook and I'm not sure if you can post pictures on the blog. Looking forward to knitting with you.

Recommended

I just completed my very own swing cardigan. It was my very 1st sweater project and even though the result is obviously a freshman effort (I still intend to wear it proudly) I learned a lot along the way. This pattern was a good introduction to shaping and construction for a beginner like me. The yarn was delightfully affordable, too. Recommended.

decreasing even help needed

I am knitting this sweater and have reached the section to switch back to garter stitch and evenly decrease. is there a simple way to calculate this??

This reminds me of a variegated crocheted version I made of this in 1973 from a pattern I found in the Mc Calls Knitting Magazine. This looks like a fun project!

Kint-a-long

I am a avid crocheter but am branching out to Knitting. I thought I would try this cardi. Do You think it is a good one to start with or should I start with something else? Thanks for you help.

Knit-a-long

I also am an avid crocheter. In fact, I teach a crochet class. I am now attempting to knit and thought this pattern would be a good starting point. I have done the beginning stitches and took a beginners knitting class. I taught myself to knit when I was young and took the class just to know that I was doing things correctly. Now I want to begin to make things useful. I thought this would be a lot of fun to do it along with others who are learning at the same time. I'm looking forward to making this lovely sweater but will be making it in a different color. Green is not in my wardrobe at all. Mine will most likely be in some shade of blue. I'll be looking for someone else to venture out and make it in another color, too. Bring on the fun!!

Spring Swing Cardigan

I am brand new to this site and have just registered. Imagine my surprise when I viewed the Simple Spring Swing Cardigan. I just finished this sweater yesterday and made it in the the new Red Heart Shimmer yarn in the Royal. It turned out gorgeous! I found it relatively simple as that is what I was looking for as I'm newly retired and just getting back into knitting and crocheting after being away from it for about 30 years. It was fun to make.

New Knit Along Spring Swing Cardi

I am presently in progress with this project. Unfortunately I have been working up my stash of yarn and began this project using the Super Saver yarn. Word of caution, this yarn will not provide the nice drape that would be achieved by choosing the Eco brand yarn.

Summer K nit Along

Can't wait to join. Despite my vow not to begin another project until completing my works-in-progress, I like this cardigan too much not to put it on my needles and participate in the knit along.

Knit Along

I am very excited about Summer Knit Along. I really like the Simple Spring Swing Cardigan and despite my promise to myself not to begin another project or join another knit-along until I have completed my many current projects in progress, I know that I will be embarking on another project on June 8.

The Simple Spring Swing Cardigan Pattern

Where do I get the page to download the pattern for the above-referenced pattern? I am looking forward to my very first knit-along project. Thank you for providing me with this information.

Sincerely,

If you enter the pattern

If you enter the pattern number, WR1970, in the search engine at the top of the page, it will take you to a link for the pattern. Click on it to arrive at the pattern page where you can download the design. You do need to have Adobe Reader on your computer, but that's also free and comes installed on many computers.

Knit Along

I am interested in being part of this knit along. Please explain how it works, and where it occurs. Is it on TV or on-line? If it is on-line, is sound required? where do I find full instructions please?
