Confusing instructions on Octagon Throw
I have read instructions for Round 9 of the Octagon throw over and over. I have even called Herrschners (where I bought my kit) for clarification. But I could not make the instructions starting with the 9th row make sense....until now! Here's what I think is wrong: The wording for the directions starting with Round 9 states, "Each repeat of rnds 6 and 7 increase 2 sts between each ch-1 space (16 sts per rnd)....etc. The wording implies that the stitcher is supposed to add two stitches to each row when in fact if he or she just continues to dc in each dc as directed in the original direction for rows 6 & 7, there will automatically be the correct increase in stitches for each row or round. I got a clue when reading the second half of the directions which state, "each repeat of Round 8 INCREASES 1 st between each ch-1 space". The reason why Round 8 only increases by one is because you skip a dc in the original row's directions. Again, the increase is passive and not an added stitch.
If you can follow my explanation, please make corrections to the directions on Round 9 to spare another stitcher the frustration and frogging. I suggest you say something like: Each repeat of rnds 6 and 7 WILL INCREASE by 2 sts between each ch-1 space, etc... This sounds less like a directive and more like an explanation, which is what I think was intended. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback!
