Crochet Hook: 3.5mm [US E-4].
Split lock stitch marker, yarn needle, poly-fill stuffing.
Cozy stands about 3½” tall.

I'm a bit confused on how to do the tail and am unable to see what it looks like in the picture. It's ch 9, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and next 7 then repeat 3 times.
Do you ch 1 after the 7th sl st and go back up the chain or what?
Could you please clarify this.

Each little chick will have
Each little chick will have four tail feathers. To make each one, chain 9, slip stitch in the second chain from the hook and then into the remaining seven chains. After you do the first one, you'll make a second by chaining 9, slip stitching in the second chain from hook, etc--and do the whole thing again for the third and fourth feather. You should end up with four little feathers for each little chick.
