Love Love Love It!

I am a very inexperienced crocheter and found this pattern very easy to follow. For once I actually ended up with straight edges! I used a multi-colored baby soft yarn for the main color and a light pink for the stripes. I chose not to put on the daisies. It turned out so impressive! I love how it looks complicated because of the "x"es but it really isn't. Now, of course I have to make another one in blue, since I just found out I'm pregnant with a boy! Maybe I will embroider little footballs instead of daisies??? We'll see! Can't wait to use the blanket!

Help Needed :(

I would like to make this blanket as part of a baby shower gift and I am having some trouble. This is my first pattern that I am attempting to follow (I have read over the instructions and the learning book numerous times and have it open at all times while crocheting - I have known the basic single and double crochet stitch for years, just never attempted anything before) and so I am starting out with a "practice" blanket.

The first row is a piece of cake, I have the appropriate number of dc stitches at the end. The second row is fine until the very end, there I have an extra stitch which then throws off row three. I don't know where the extra stitch is coming in. It says to dc last 8 stitches, but this keeps falling one short from the end and so to even out the side I have to add one more. I have tried taking it all apart and starting over but with the same result each time.

Any suggestions?
