RED HEART ALL-IN-ONE Granny Squares FAQ

You’ve got questions? We’ve got you covered.

1. What do I do if the colors don't line up?

Adjust your hook size if you are finding the colors are not lining up after the first two or three rounds. If you don’t have enough yarn in the right shade to complete a round, go down a hook size. If you have too much of one color when a round is complete, go up a hook size.

If the colors are ‘almost’ lining up, try pulling back a few stitches and adjust your tension for the last few stitches to achieve the correct point of color change.

No you must use the 5 round granny square pattern designed specifically for this yarn to achieve the correct color changes. The pattern is provided on the ball band and is used in all the supporting patterns.

4. Can I make the granny squares smaller or bigger?

The yarn is designed to create a 5 round crochet granny square that measures 6” [15 cm] square. You could eliminate rounds in your granny square and stop after 2, 3 or 4 rounds to make smaller squares BUT you need to use the shades in the order they appear from the ball when working any square for the colors to align correctly. For example, if you want to work 3 rounds to make a smaller granny square, you will need to cut off the shades that were intended for rounds 4 and 5, then rejoin yarn to work the first 3 rounds again.

5. Is there yarn left at the beginning and end of each granny?

We have calculated approx. 4” [10 cm] extra in the amounts for the very first shade of the square and for last rnd (5th shade) of the square. We recommend using a matching solid shade of Red Heart Super Saver as the joining/seaming yarn for your granny projects.

6. Can I use this yarn as a self-striping yarn and not work granny squares?

Yes you can! We’ve even created a few patterns to show off this yarn’s striping effect. This yarn is ideal to knit or crochet any worsted weight CYC#4 patterns.
